About BOOK ONE
This first installment, Book One: Roots, 1921-1935 covers Clifford Henjum’s young years on the farm growing up through the Depression and Dust Bowl. Through stories and images, this book traces his early years growing up on the family farm
and attending a one-room schoolhouse through eighth grade. He experienced firsthand the transition from horse-drawn plows to gasoline-powered tractors, and from gas lamps and wood stoves to electricity. It gives a historical look at farming life — from work to faith to play — during the 20’s to the 30’s and the Depression and the Dust Bowl.

Book Three is the third installment of Mr. Henjum’s now 103-year oral history in words and images, exploring the WWII Years. With World War II declared, Clifford must pivot and be resilient through the changes ahead for him, his family and his country. He would join the Navy. Clifford would be selected to be trained in the (then) new and secret technology of radar. In the Battle of Okinawa he would put this radar to the test, guiding the ship through dense camouflage smoke and air attack into the harbor.
